If you are not fond of furry little rodents, DO NOT PUSH PLAY! The
short flick embedded here features Shrewy the famous tame shrew, who lived
for some time in the wall behind my desk. We developed a good relationship
over the course of some months, based largely on an endless supply of roasted
pumpkin seeds, which (as it turns out) are what shrews likes best.
In
this video you can see Shrewy playing his favorite game of Find the Pumpkin
Seed, which in this case is wedged between two of my own toes. Please do
not be alarmed - although his species (Blarina
brevicauda, or the Northern Short-Tailed Shrew) is technically
one of the few venomous mammals, Shrewy did not ever bite, or even nibble
my toes. |
